The view from Galerie Lafayette’s roof terrace
Here I am again with my quest for the best spots in Paris to enjoy a view over the city.
For those who haven’t already read my previous articles, since the beginning of this blog, I’ve written about the most stunning views you could admire in Paris. The best one, in my opinion, is the view from La Tour Montparnasse (see here), which isn’t cheap either, since you ‘ll have to pay 15€ to have access to the rooftop. However, it is really worth the price, especially if you go there for sunset. The second best view of Paris is the one from l’Arc de Triomphe, which overlooks the Eiffel Tower, Les Champs Elysées, Montmartre and La Défense (see here and here). Then there are also the views from Le Sacré-Coeur (see here) and Le Printemps (see here), the latter having the advantage of being free (which is something to consider when you’re an amateur photographer who’s not rolling in money).
So, where do I rank the view from Galerie Lafayette in my Best views of Paris toplist ? Well, even though it’s far from being as breathtaking as the views from La Tour Montparnasse, L’Arc de Triomphe and Le Sacré-Coeur are, it’s still definitely worth a detour, in any case more than the view from Le Printemps. The big advantage, once again, is that you don’t have to pay to enjoy it, or be a client. You can just come, go upstairs, enjoy the view, take a few photos, and then leave. A pretty nice move from Les Galeries Lafayette, I find !
If you ever come to Paris and want to enjoy this view, just stop at Opera metro station (Line 3, 7, 8 or Auber/Havre-Caumartin Line A and 9) and go to Galeries Lafayette, take the elevator to the sixth floor and climb up the stairs to the rooftop. The terrace is open until 8:00 p.m. I tell you, it’s definitely worth a glance.
